Kick up your feet and rest

Kick up your feet

It's Friday night! There is a feeling of relief. Almost everyone feels it. How many times have you heard 'Thank God it's Friday.' Well yes, thank Him it is, as he has a gift waiting for you at the start of sunset.

The expectation of seeing the weekend come and to relax from work or to have time to socialize with others produces in us a sincerely happy feeling. This is good reason to kick off your shoes and really rest from the laborious past 6 days.

Shabbat is a great time to reconnect with family and friends, but our Creator is also desiring our time. Maybe you like to tuck in and get away from people on the weekend or maybe you just like to spend time with as many people as you can. Finding time to 'fit in' our Creator on our schedules can be tough unless we specifically set our minds on spending time with Him.

We ask all our guests on the Shabbat Date Podcast how they spend their Date with God and the answers always vary. Some like to dive into the Bible to read where others like to take a nature walk. Some prefer to rest and do nothing while others want to help others. One thing is important, we just need to keep remembering this day was made for US TO ENJOY HIM and not to be a day that burdens us in any way. To delight in the Lord is a joy and gives our minds, bodies and spirits a special renewed rest that cannot be found anywhere else.

This next Shabbat, try these 3 Steps to making your Shabbat even better.

  1. Designate some time to pray. Praying is a 2 way street so don't forget to listen. 🙂

  2. Get together with another like-minded person who shares your heart for the Shabbat Day. Some go to Shul and others to church. You'll be surprised what happens when you start spending time with those who love the appointed day too. The blessings start to overflow onto you so be ready, good is coming your way!

  3. Seek out something in nature. This is the best way to return to your roots. This world was created for us to enjoy on the Shabbat, so go find your special spot and take in all the sun, surroundings or simple fresh air that comes with being in nature.

Those feet should feel really rested by the end of Shabbat. It won't be long before that sun sets and the sweet Shabbat will have passed. At least you can say you've kick up your feet somewhere and enjoyed that sweet rest that comes from this beautiful day!
